Last Wednesday evening I had the pleasure of attending an event called Rosé on the Rooftop, thrown by Freebie, a new mobile app that believes everyone’s social connectivity has a value, that will launch in July. The event was held on the rooftop of III Forks steakhouse in Lakeshore East. All guests were transported to the restaurant in black cars courtesy of Uber, and received their own personal bottle of Mumm Napa Brut Reserve Rosé. Pretty cool, huh?
All guests received the following evite in which they had to claim their complimentary bubbling bottle. I obviously pressed the button faster than you can say “mumm.”
Tired of the typical denim pant, yet too pale for a skirt, I decided to dress up in my new pair of overalls which I had scored a few weeks prior to the party and could not wait to whip out.
Stumbling upon these overalls was an extremely exciting moment for me since I had an obsession with overalls when I was younger. As I grew up and my style evolved, jumpsuits and rompers became my new one piece. And then I found these bad boys: skinny overalls. What could be cooler?
The weather was supposed to be rainy so I opted for my patent leather pumps incase of a down pour. While I like wear whatever I want, I was not about to trudge around in my rain boots while surrounded by lovely looking fellow party-goers.
The Trunk Club girls rolled up looking ready for summer. If there is one thing you learn working as a stylist in Chicago, it’s how to dress for any weather.
I had the pleasure of hanging out with Chicago lifestyle blogger Arin from Heart of Chic. Her friend featured here on the left could not get enough of my overalls, so naturally I could not get enough of him. If you are wondering why everyone looks so happy, it was a combination of the flowing rosé and my stellar jokes.
Of course I couldn’t pass up a photo op with this hunk….the mastermind behind the whole event- Ben. Leading up to the party I kept hinting at my “surprise” outfit. I think he was expecting some crazy dress. He was pleasantly surprised.
When selecting and wearing a pair of overalls there are a few things to consider: fit, pattern, and what will go underneath.
For this pair, I loved that they were long. However, since I am not very tall a loose pair of long overalls would have swallowed me whole. This skinny pair offered me a more flattering look because they hugged my curves, and the vertical stripes were actually lengthening.
I tried on several tops to go underneath my overalls and decided to go with this tight cropped tee. The back of the pants are extremely low so I felt like wearing this shirt offered a way to show a bit of skin without being revealing. I chose to undo one strap for the same reason. Overalls can look a bit childish so I found that by leaving one side unhooked I was able to pull off a playful look without being babyish.
I topped off my outfit with these nude shoes because they added a feminine touch. The patent leather added a hint of sheen and dressed up the outfit a bit as well.
