If you follow me on instagram or snap chat, then you are probably aware that last week I returned from a 12 day trip to New York, Philadelphia, San Francisco and LA. I hadn’t been to San Francisco since I was 15 and I was excited to have the opportunity to explore the city a bit.
It was a quick 2 day trip so I figured I would pack in as many spots as possible into my 48 hours. I started off day 1 with a quick workout and then walked to the Ferry Building for some Blue Bottle Coffee and seaweed salad. Afterwards I walked along the water to catch the ferry to Alcatraz.
In case you haven’t heard of it, Alcatraz is the name of a high-security prison located on Alcatraz Island. It was in operation from 1934-1963 and was home to famous inmates such as Al Capone, George “Machine Gun” Kelly and Robert Franklin Stroud (“The Birdman of Alcatraz). While the prison is no longer in use, you can tour the facility. It’s the perfect mix of mysterious, creepy and fascinating. Not to mention, the views from the island are beautiful.

Post Alcatraz I went to a cool little whole in the wall bar called The Hot Spot whose $7 drink special included a shot, a beer and a lottery ticket. And yes, I did win $4. We then made our way up to North Beach for dinner at The House. It’s a tiny asian-fusion restaurant that was great.
Day 2 began with brunch at Mel’s Drive-in. After that we made our way to the Haight-Ashbury, an area I’ve dreamed of going to since I was little (I was a bit obsessed with 60’s counter-culture). There were a ton of cool little shops. Afterwards it was time to see the Full House house. I know, I know, but I had to.

My final night was spent walking along fisherman’s wharf to see the sea lions and then amazing pizza at Tony’s. All in all, a great little trip.
