I love sweatpants. I still long for the days where sweats were in fact the cool thing to wear. But, we can’t turn back time, and I definitely don’t miss the detentions that went along with high school. Now a days I am a firm believer that the only time its okay to look like a total shlump is on a Saturday or Sunday morning when you are hungover and getting your bagel and coffee fix. Having eye makeup all over your face is an absolute must. Add a hoodie with hood up or glasses to complete the look.
On a cold dreary day with a temperature of -9 all I wanted was to roll out of bed in a cotton onesie but rules are rules and it was a week day. Scanning my closet I spotted my favorite section: The Summer Section. Nothing is more comfortable than a maxi dress or skirt. I pulled out my maxi skirt and paired it with a thin sweater. This may not be the most exciting of outfits but remember, this is my version of a sweat suit. I love mixing prints so I threw on my aztec scarf to keep me warm and to clash with the striped skirt. I also chose this scarf because its huge so I can roll it into a ball and take naps on the table throughout the day. When I wear a baggy top I always pair it with some long heavy necklaces. When they fall in the right spot, they show where your actual body is so you don’t appear bigger than you are. I’m all about details too so I like the little tie on the back of this basic sweater.
Wearing heels goes against all the sweatpant rules (besides the walk of shame) but I liked the way the chunky boots pulled the look together. Say what you want about Lita boots. I still dig Jeffrey Campbell. And if I was journeying to the midwest, my booties sure as hell were coming with me.
