Rose-colored Glasses- An optimistic perception of something; a positive opinion; seeing something in a positive way, often thinking of it as more pleasant than it actually is.
I love this phrase. I’m not sure exactly why but I find something romantic and whimsical about it and it is the theme of today’s post- hence why several of the girls I sketched are in fact wearing rose-colored glasses. When things aren’t perfect just pretend like they are! So to escape my winter blues I put on my rose-colored glasses and pretended I was in another part of the world.
I made pretend that I was in Morocco, Greece and Turkey. That’s where the inspiration for this swim and sunwear came from. I love the mix of the reds, oranges, purples and yellows. It gives such a warm vibe and reminds me of a bohemian life, and belly dancers. And who doesn’t love belly dancers?
In the second photo of sketches you’ll notice two eyes on the blue top. These of course are evil eye symbols which are meant to protect the wearer against harm from those who are envious or have ill wishes towards the wearer. And well, we all know a great rack and/or bathing suit can stir some jealous feelings in others.
The greek key trim on the beach pants and beach bag is a design I have always loved so I wanted to find a way to incorporate it into my drawings after my mental trip to Greece. Happy Thursday and remember- Thursday is amazing because it means its almost Friday.
