When I went away to college I took with me knowledge that made me feel wise beyond my years. It was something my big sister taught me which was : sugary mixed cocktails lead to the freshman 15. I went to a city school so beer was never really an option I had to worry about. With my sister’s wisdom in my head, I taught myself to like vodka soda or vodka on the rocks. (By accident she forgot to mention that late night eating also plays a role)
I realize not everyone shares my love for straight vodka. My best friends and I rented a house for a bachelorette party in a few weeks so I wanted to come up with some daiquiri alternatives that would taste great but not ruin the bikini bods. So, here are the low-calorie (around 100 calories each) cocktails I mixed up.
Melon Margarita
1 oz muddled canteloupe
1 oz tequila
- Shake Slim Lizzy’s Margarita, muddled canteloupe and tequila then strain into glass
- Garnish with a lime
Blueberry Pomegranate Cosmopolitan
9 Blueberries
3 oz Slim Lizzy’s Cosmopolitan
1 oz Pom juice
1 oz vodka
2 oz Club soda
- muddle 6 blueberries, place in glass and add ice
- shake Slim Lizzy’s Cosmopolitan, vodka and Pom then pour into glass
- add club soda to taste
- add 3 blueberries as garnish
