If there is one thing I can appreciate in a brand, it is creative marketing… And that’s exactly what Uniqlo is doing. In preparation for it’s Chicago store opening in late October, they have been doing something quite, well, unique…
The Japanese company launched a campaign called the UNIQLO Chicago train takeovers which took place yesterday and will occur a total of 5 times before the launch of their new flagship store on Michigan Ave. Influencers and fashionistas alike were invited to board the first car of a CTA train which was completely wrapped with the Uniqlo logo. Once stepping inside, guests were treated to iced tea refreshments and presented with gifts which included panda cookies, an origami kit, and fall lookbook all wrapped up in a scarf.
Entertainment included a DJ spinning Tokyo style beats and street style dance performances. They also had a rack of Lucky Kuji raffle tickets (a Japanese tradition) and riders were invited to pull one off to win prizes, two of which included a chance to win tickets to a Bulls game, and a trip to Tokyo. While I tried to use my sixth sense to pluck the trip to Tokyo, I won sushi candy. But I won’t complain, because I do love candy.
The store opens October 23rd at 830 N. Michigan Ave. You can follow the hype by checking out the hashtags #UNIQLOchicago and #whereUNIQLO.
